In the NT this encompasses the crown of thorns placed on Jesus (John 19:2, Matthew 27:29), the imperishable crown of the Christian athlete (1 Corinthians 9:25), the crown of life (James 1:12, Revelation 2:10), the crown of righteousness (2 Timothy 4:8), and the golden crowns of the twenty-four elders (Revelation 4:4, 10).
