1. likeness, form, appearance — A visible form, shape, or representation that resembles something else; an image or similitude. Used theologically by Paul of Christ being sent 'in the likeness of sinful flesh' (Rom 8:3), believers being united in 'the likeness of his death' (Rom 6:5), Christ being found 'in the likeness of men' (Phil 2:7), and of the idolatrous images 'in the likeness of' creatures (Rom 1:23). Also used of the locust-like beings in Revelation (Rev 9:7). Singular and plural forms share the same meaning.
