Nero appears in the Received Text's subscription to 2 Timothy, though this reflects later scribal tradition rather than original Pauline composition. His reign saw both cultural patronage and notorious persecution of Christians following the Great Fire of Rome in AD 64. The name itself comes from the Sabine word for 'strong' or 'vigorous.'
