outcry, clamor
1. outcry, clamor A loud vocal utterance expressing urgency, distress, or strong emotion, covering the full semantic range of kraugē in the NT. In Matt 25:6 it is the midnight cry announcing the bridegroom (arb ṣurāḫ, hin pukār, kor oechim). In Eph 4:31 Paul lists it among vices alongside bitterness and anger (spa gritería, hin cillāhaṭ). Heb 5:7 describes Christ offering prayers with loud crying (kor bureujiṭeum), and Rev 21:4 promises no more crying in the new creation (hin ronā). Elizabeth exclaims with a loud cry in Luke 1:42 (arb bi-ṣurāḫin, spa con clamor), and Acts 23:9 uses the same noun for the uproar in the Sanhedrin. Hebrew equivalent is consistently צְעָקָה across all occurrences. All four auto-clusters are purely inflectional case variants (NFS, GFS, DFS) of one sense.
