1. wrath, fury, rage — Intense anger, passionate fury, or fierce indignation. In the NT used predominantly of divine wrath (especially in Revelation for God's eschatological fury: Rev 12:12, 14:8,10,19, 15:1,7, 16:1,19, 18:3, 19:15), but also of human anger and rage (Luke 4:28; Acts 19:28), outbursts of anger listed among works of the flesh (2 Cor 12:20; Gal 5:20), and wrath as a vice to be put away (Eph 4:31; Col 3:8). Rendered uniformly across languages: Arabic غضب/سُخط, German Zorn, French colère, Hebrew חֵמָה/זַעַם, Hindi क्रोध/प्रकोप, Korean 분노/진노, Spanish ira/furor. Also Rom 2:8 (divine fury), Heb 11:27 (Pharaoh's wrath). 18×
