to be, exist (future form of εἰμί); will be, shall be
The future tense of the fundamental verb 'to be,' expressing what will exist, happen, or come to pass. Across Greek dialects it takes various forms but consistently points forward in time. Prophetic and apocalyptic texts lean heavily on this verb: what is to come, what shall be revealed, the age that will arrive. Jesus uses it in eschatological discourse ('there will be signs'), and Paul employs it in discussing resurrection realities. The future of being carries both promise and warning throughout Scripture.
